IYF ja ECYN

International Youth Foundation IYF

Säätiön kansainvälinen toiminta koostuu pääasiallisesti säätiön toiminnasta kehitysyhteistyössä ja osana IYF:n kansainvälistä partneriverkostoa, sekä säätiö Karjalan tasavallassa ja Viipurin piirissä toimivan Karjalan lapsi -ohjelman toteuttajana.

IYF, International Youth Foundation, on yksi maailman johtavista ennaltaehkäisevän lapsi- ja nuorisotyön puolestapuhujista ja toimijoista. Ulkomaisia avustuskohteita etsittäessä on IYF-verkoston tarjoama luotettava partneri säätiölle arvokas voimavara. Säätiö on myös aktiivisesti mukana IYF:n Euroopan jäsenien perustamassa European Children and Youth Networkin (ECYN) toiminnassa. ECYN:in toimipaikka on Bryssel.

Kansainvälisen toiminnan kohderyhmänä ovat lapset ja nuoret kuten kotimaassakin. Toteuttamistavat ovat kuitenkin hyvin erilaisia riippuen maanosasta ja kulttuurisesta ympäristöstä. Jokaista yhteisöä kunnioittava lähestymistapa asettaa vaativat odotukset eri kulttuurien ja yhdyskuntien tuntemiselle. Säätiön voimavarana on oman osaamisen ohella se verkostoetu, jonka yhteistyö IYF:n kanssa tuo mukanaan.

Yhteistyötä IYF:n kanssa vahvistetaan myös suunnitteilla olevan FYDI:n kautta. Kantavana ajatuksena on IYF-verkoston sitouttaminen ja hyödyntäminen kehitysyhteistyön toteuttamisessa eri maanosissa. IYF:n Global Partner Network toimii noin 70 maassa.

European Children and Youth Networks ECYN

Euroopassa toimivat IYF-järjestöt ovat muodostaneet ECYN -yhteistyön eurooppalaiselle verkottumiselle. Verkoston nettisivut (www.ecyn.org) sisältävät myös informaatiota suomeksi. Yhteisten projektikriteereiden ja projekteista tiedottamisen kautta verkostossa mahdollistetaan myös EU-rahoitus.


The Finnish Children and Youth Foundation (FCYF) is a partner of both the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and the European Children and Youth Foundations Network (ECYN).

FCYF has collaborated with IYF to support youth development programs in several countries, including Argentina, Ecuador, Palestine, and the Balkans. FCYF’s founder, Pär Stenback also serves as a Vice-President of IYF.

FCYF is a founding member of ECYN and Ira Carpelan, FCYF’s Executive Director, has served on its Board since 2004.


International Youth Foundation (IYF)

The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is a global non-profit organization working in nearly 70 countries to ensure that young people have the opportunity and support needed to achieve their potential and the confidence and power to create a better future for themselves and society.

European Children and Youth Foundations Network (ECYN)

The European Children and Youth Foundations Network (ECYN) aims to build a strong, positive and sustainable future for children and youth in Europe, and elsewhere in the world. ECYN seeks to do this by supporting national organisations that work with children and young people and by identifying programs "that work," in order to strengthen their impact and expand their reach so that many more young people benefit from them.

ECYN partners have developed effective programs and approaches in a range of areas, such as Civic Education, Youth Participation, Youth Information, Voluntary Service, Youth Employment, International and Inter-Ethnic Cooperation, and Non-formal Education.

ECYN supports its members by providing opportunities for them to share their experiences in order to develop and implement international co-operation, to train people that work directly with the youth and the young people themselves, to advocate on behalf of the interests of children youth, and to spread information that makes a positive and lasting difference in young people’s lives.
