This two-year project aims to tackle poverty, high youth unemployment rates and lack of access and skills to employment among disadvantaged young people in greater Caracas metropolitan area and Anzoátegui and Carabobo regions in Venezuela, by providing young people high quality labor training in ICT, life and entrepreneurial skills and access to employment. The project is a continuation of an earlier project (part I of Conéctate, operational between July 2007 and July 2009). The project is implemented jointly by the Finnish Children and Youth Foundation (FCYF) and its local partner organization in Venezuela, Opportunitas. The project is supported by funding from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland to the development cooperation projects of NGOs.

Objectives
The long-term development objective of the project is to improve the employability of poor at risk young people between the ages of 18-25, by providing them high quality training, life and entrepreneurial skills and job placement services. The direct objective of the project is to ensure that 150 disadvantaged young people will participate in the training, and that the graduates are successfully places in jobs within 6 months after completing their training.

Target group/beneficiaries
The direct target group of the project is 150 unemployed, disadvantaged young people from the greater Caracas metropolitan area, Anzoátegui and Carabobo regions. The project will also benefit indirectly 4 family members of each participant, having an additional impact on at least 1,000 people (family members).

Implementation/Results
The project is implemented through four overlapping training phases: life skills, IT skills, work-place skills and internships. At the end of the project, the following outcomes are expected: a majority of graduated youth are placed in employment, have greater life and IT skills and are more engaged in their communities. These results are verified by statistics, questionnaires, surveys and pre- and post- course assessments.
