This three-year project aims to bridge the gap between education and employment to help young people find pathways to long-term fulfillment in worthwhile careers. The project is implemented jointly by the Finnish Children and Youth Foundation (FCYF) and its local partner organization in Morocco, the Foundation Marocaine de l’Education pour l’Emploi (EFE Maroc). The project is supported by the funding from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland to the development cooperation projects of NGOs.

Objectives
The long-term development objective of the project is to equip youths with transferable, marketable and life skills to achieve long-term career opportunities. This project will bolster economic growth in the areas of Casablanca and Rabat by supplying skilled youths to the job market. The trainings will also aim to expand to other urban and rural areas of Morocco.

Target group/beneficiaries
The project targets to reach 800 unemployed disadvantaged youths, ages 16-25, from poorer urban centers and outlying urban neighborhoods in Casablanca and Rabat. At least 50% of the project beneficiaries will be women, and the project will target youth who have limited access to educational opportunities. Indirectly, the project will benefit at least 75 trainers and educators by providing pedagogical training, and at least 150 businesses in various industries which will benefit from new skilled and motivated employees.

Implementation/Results
The Life Skills for Employment Program builds on success of earlier and current life skills and employability programs (Employ Habilité and Workplace Success) of EFE Maroc and its partners. These programs have also gained support of the public sector of Morocco.

The Employment Program will develop high quality technical skills training programs to meet employer demands, as well as training for trainers. It will accomplish this by adapting existing life and professional skills programs to use in target business sectors and by engaging private sector partners, as well as conducting corporate outreach to expand the employer network.

The Life Skills for Employment Program will provide training to 800 disadvantaged youth and provide job opportunities for the graduates, ensuring that 75% of students are placed in internships and jobs within 6 months of graduation. Additional results include: 75 trainers have been trained and certified; 50 companies have contributed financially or in-kind to the training; 150 companies have provided employment opportunities for graduates and partnerships have been formed with at least 5 other Moroccan business associations, NGOs and government institutions for expansion of the training and long-term sustainability.
